Great Plains QIN Webinar: The ABCs of ADEs | October 18, 2022
October 18 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm CDT
Adverse Drug Events (ADEs) are a large public health problem and a patient safety priority. An ADE is defined as “an injury resulting from the use of a drug. Under this definition, the term ADE includes harm caused by the drug (adverse drug reactions and overdoses) and harm from the use of the drug (including dose reductions and discontinuations of drug therapy).”¹
ADEs cause approximately 1.3 million emergency department visits each year. About 350,000 patients each year need to be hospitalized for further treatment after emergency visits for adverse drug events.²
During this Webinar, Carrie Sorenson will address the terms related to drug-related harm, the scope of the problem, risk factors, prevention strategies and available resources. Time will be allotted for a Q&A session following the presentation.
