Each year about 185,000 people die from a stroke. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in America and a leading cause of adult disability.  Yet, research shows that too few people know what a stroke is and how to recognize when a stroke is happening.

May is American Stroke Month; the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s annual campaign to educate Americans about the prevalence of stroke, despite it being largely preventable, treatable and beatable. The campaign encourages providers and caregivers to band together to raise awareness of the simple prevention and treatment options that can help reduce stroke incidence. By learning the many warning signs of a stroke – you can help save a life.
