The fourth floor hallway at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel was teeming with over 2000 people during the 2016 CMS Quality Conference in Baltimore, MD, last week.   Highlighting the conference theme “Aligning for Innovation and Outcomes”, the Gallery Walk stretching from ballroom to ballroom showcased a broad array of collaborative projects.  Great Plains Quality Innovation Network was proud to have two posters among those displayed.

 

Poster: FluFIT Doubles Disease Prevention

Nikki Medalen standing by the Great Plains Quality Innovation FluFIT poster abstract at the 2016 CMS Quality Conference.The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is an affordable take-home blood stool test proven as an effective alternative to colonoscopy. Guidelines recommend the influenza vaccination and FIT test be administered annually.  FluFIT is a combination intervention intended to increase colorectal cancer screening during flu season. All four states incorporated FluFIT in pharmacy, clinic and/or community settings to advance NCCRT’s 80% by 2018 goal.

Poster: Relationship Building One Step at a Time

Krystal HaysThe National Health Safety Network (NHSN) Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI) Initiative tasked QIN-QIOs with NHSN enrollment of 15% of the nation’s nursing homes to establish a national C. difficile baseline.  This infographic displays NHSN enrollment strategies used by the Great Plains QIN-QIO to assist nursing homes with the NHSN enrollment process.  These strategies mitigated barriers encountered during the NHSN enrollment process and enhanced relationships between the QIN-QIO and CDI participants to enable readiness to report CDI data to NHSN.
