Medications can be lifesaving treatments that change the world. Unfortunately, if not used properly, medications can also lead to adverse events. In fact, Adverse Drug Events (ADEs) account for over 1 million emergency department visits a year and about 350,000 patients need to be hospitalized for further treatment after emergency visits for adverse drug events. The Great Plains Quality Care Coalition recently launched a Medication Safety Learning and Action Series to address this challenge.

How Can You Get Involved?
The Great Plains Quality Care Coalition provides the opportunity for members to partner with an experienced team of quality improvement experts who help connect community leaders and partners to share ideas and best practices. Tools, resources and education are offered as well as assistance in utilizing data to drive improvement.

In addition, we work to support existing state-based and community-based efforts and coalitions in the Dakotas. Our team offers guidance, expertise and resources to help streamline efforts, reduce duplication, connect leaders and improve the quality of care in our communities.

Do you Have a Story to Share?
If so, we would love to help you tell it. We are looking for healthcare providers, organizations and community groups who are willing to share a best practice, movement or effort towards positive change. Success stories can draw attention to the effectiveness of an intervention in improving healthcare. Additionally, success stories can inspire other providers or patients to make similar improvements in health quality or personal health behavior.
