Health Information Technology (HIT)

Improving care through improved utilization of HIT

Healthcare providers’ meaningful use of Health Information Technology (HIT) can be a key driving force behind making healthcare more patient-centered and improving overall quality. HIT also presents opportunities to strengthen infrastructure and data systems, enable local innovations, foster learning organizations and eliminate disparities. Great Plains QIN is working to advance e-health and health information technology across the continuum of care and throughout communities to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of care for patients.

CMS is committed to promoting and prioritizing interoperability of healthcare data and improving patient access to health information. Access more information about Promoting Interoperability and CMS Health Information Technology.

**CMS renamed the EHR Incentive Programs to the Promoting Interoperability Programs in April 2018.
