Rural suicide is a critical issue that needs urgent attention as it has become a growing concern in recent years. Suicide rates in rural areas are often higher than in urban areas. Factors, such as limited access to mental health services, social isolation and lack of economic opportunities, can contribute to this trend.
In light of this, a new workshop has been launched to equip healthcare workers with the necessary tools to prevent suicide in rural communities. This comprehensive training for service providers in rural communities includes special focus on youth, substance use, and Indigenous communities. The interactive workshop features video demonstrations, active discussion groups, and access to the latest research on best practices. Attendees will get free, ongoing support – including online discussion forums and monthly Q&A video calls – for one year after the workshop.
