In Case You Missed It.…You can access many of CIRE’s previous webinars on their YouTube channel, including:

Vaccines Under the Microscope: How can we know they are safe? Presented by Dr. Paul Carson on July 26, 2023.

Dr. Carson discusses how vaccine safety is monitored in the U.S. He gives an overview of our safety surveillance systems and reviews: how the systems work together to identify and assess potential safety signals; strengths and limitations of each system; and historical examples of how the systems have identified safety concerns. Viewers will have a greater understanding of the robust, multi-layered approach taken in the United States to assure vaccine safety and be more equipped to answer questions about vaccine safety.

Is Polio Coming Back? Presented by Dr. Paul Offit on February 23, 2023.

Dr. Offit discusses the recent case of paralytic polio in Rockland County, NY, and whether this case signals a larger problem for public health. Dr. Offit talks about the strengths and weaknesses of the inactivated and oral polio vaccines, and he provides insight into whether or not we will be able to eradicate polio with our current vaccine strategy.
