To compliment resources that CMS and other Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO’s) have made available, the Great Plains QIN team created our own Quality Resource and Use Report comprehensive presentation and tool in hopes of providing users with a better understanding of what to expect in their QRUR and how to read the data that populates each report.

Quality and Resource Use Reports (QRURs) provide comparative information so physicians can review and analyze the clinical care their patients receive in relation to the standard care and costs of other physician’s Medicare patients. QRUR reports are generated and made available to clinicians in an annual report, a mid-year report and a supplemental report. Disclaimer: The information contained in the reports is believed to be accurate at the time of production. The information may be subject to change at CMS’ discretion, including, but not limited to, circumstances in which an error is discovered.

Although our tool is too large to present in whole, we did introduce the tool independent of this launch to gauge interest in a quick release of information sharing on May 25, 2016. Based on positive feedback, we are excited to finally release the tool and look forward to the impending release of the accompanying MIPS Financial Calculator. The QRUR tool can also be accessed on our Quality Reporting webpage .

Users will find helpful hyperlinks throughout the QRUR Tool and additional resources that will assist whoever is accessing said report(s). Screenshots have been provided throughout the tool to ensure real-time understanding while users are comparing their report to our sample. Once reviewed in its entirety, we invite you to e-mail us with questions and let us know of your feedback. Please contact your state QIO representative listed below.

Great Plains staff would be happy to discuss modifications to the tool, as well as give users new information of the forthcoming release of the MIPS Financial Calculator. This add-on complements the QRUR Tool by giving users an opportunity to input their own data into the cost calculator and generate a MIPS score that clinicians can then use as a baseline to benchmark performance in evaluation to quality and cost measures of peer practices.
