The Nebraska Healthcare Quality Forum is an annual gathering of healthcare professionals representing all provider settings and geographic areas of the state. A full day of inspirational and knowledgeable speakers, the Quality Forum connects healthcare leaders and practitioners and provides a setting to network, learn and share expertise. The Forum is also an opportunity to highlight accomplishments in improving quality and safety for patients and communities across Nebraska.
The focus this year is improving care within our communities and within/across care settings (long-term, acute, post-acute and ambulatory). Presentations will showcase examples highlighting collaborative efforts to improve health outcomes and care, engage consumers and their families and reduce costs.
Keynote Speakers
We are fortunate to have two outstanding keynote presenters to kick-off and conclude the day. Dr. Carrie Adair will serve as our opening keynote; Dr. Adair is a social psychologist who specializes in well-being for busy and stressed healthcare workers. Her research examines the psychology of burnout and well-being, enhancing relationships, mindfulness meditation and emotion regulation. Her presentation, The Science of Burnout and Well-being in Healthcare: How Other People Matter, will center on the rapid rise of burnout in the healthcare field have many calling it an ‘epidemic’. What does the science have to say about the causes and consequences of burnout and what can be done to reduce it?
The closing keynote speaker, Brenda Elsagher, is a Certified Humor Professional. Brenda’s presentation, Humor and Healing from the Patient/Caregiver Perspective, will offer a rare look ‘behind the scenes’, with numerous and humorous insights for healthcare professionals; attendees will walk away assured they make a difference in the lives of their patients.
Breakout Sessions
In addition to outstanding keynotes, the Quality Forum offers morning and afternoon breakout sessions presented by physicians, nurses and quality and patient safety professionals; each sharing their experiences, best practices and innovative healthcare delivery throughout the state. There is something for everyone. Breakout session topics include, but are not limited to:
- Medication safety
- Chronic care management
- Palliative care
- Antibiotic stewardship
- Care coordination
- Infection prevention
- Board engagement
- Patient safety
Additional Information
The cost for attending is $60, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and up to six hours of nursing continuing education.
