According to CDC, influenza and pneumonia are the 13th leading cause of death in the United States, claiming 41,917 lives. However, this can be prevented with the use of vaccinations.

In an effort to educate and empower consumers, Great Plains QIN released Immunizations Facts for Consumers. This document provides a comprehensive guide on the importance, safety, and efficacy of immunizations. The document aims to address common misconceptions and concerns surrounding immunizations.

The guide begins by highlighting the significance of immunizations in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and protecting public health. Illnesses such as the flu, pneumococcal, and COVID-19. The document continues to explain why you should get immunized. The guide also explains why waiting for immunizations is not advised because waiting can leave individuals and their loved ones vulnerable to preventable diseases that can cause serious harm. By recognizing the importance of timely vaccination, individuals can protect themselves, contribute to community health, and reduce the risk of transmission for these diseases.

Then lastly, the document shares that by staying up to date with these recommended immunizations, individuals aged 65 and older can enhance their protection against various diseases, including influenza, pneumonia, tetanus, whooping cough, shingles, and COVID-19.
