Great Plains QIN Announces IDIQ Director Retirement

Great Plains Quality Innovation Network and CIMRO of Nebraska have announced that IDIQ Director and Senior Vice President Greg Schieke has decided to retire effective January 31, 2015.

Since joining CIMRO of Nebraska in 2003, Greg has been instrumental in the successful operations of all programs with his strong executive leadership and management skills. In his role as the Great Plains QIN IDIQ Director, Greg has had a major impact in development of the four-state regional approach to performing the QIN-QIO Scope of Work in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. In Nebraska, his leadership has been recognized at many levels, including the 2009 Outstanding Rural Health Achievement Award by the Nebraska Rural Health Association and CIMRO of Nebraska’s recognition in 2008 as the nation’s highest performing QIO by Dr. Barry Straube, then-current CMS OCSQ Director. His service to improving health care in Nebraska includes membership on the Nebraska Hospice and Palliative Care Association Board of Directors, the State of Nebraska e-Health Council, and numerous committees.

“It’s truly been a privilege to work in Nebraska and more recently the Great Plains states to improve health care and the health of our citizens,” said Schieke. “I’m proud of the accomplishments of CIMRO of Nebraska and Great Plains QIN, and the lasting partnerships. I’ll miss the wonderful people I work with and the challenges, but the time seemed right to slow down, spend more time with family, and independently work on some other projects.”

Tina Georgy, CEO of Great Plains QIN and CIMRO of Nebraska, said “Though saddened to see Greg leave, I wish him much happiness in his retirement. The success of our organizations is a testament to his leadership, and I’m grateful for all that Greg has done over the past 12 years.”

Georgy will lead the search process to find a successor to the Great Plains QIN IDIQ Director position, and Schieke will work with the new incumbent to ensure a smooth and productive transition.

Great Plains Quality Innovation Network is the new Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. The development of Great Plains QIN reflects recent changes to legislation that impacts the structure of the QIO program. The Kansas Foundation for Medical Care, CIMRO of Nebraska, Quality Health Associates of North Dakota and South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care have aligned to form a new not-for-profit organization. Each of these organizations has a long history of working collaboratively together, serving as their state’s QIO and improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare in the region.
