Recovering from a heart attack? The American Heart Association has an app for that.
After a heart attack, an individual is told to focus on recovery. Then he or she is left to figure it out. What are the next steps? Where should he or she be directed for reliable information? How does an individual make good health habits and stick to them? Or keep track of medications and doctor’s appointments? And with all that to worry about, how does one keep from getting too overwhelmed to move forward?
Those are just the kinds of questions that inspired the American Heart Association to develop My Cardiac Coach, a free mobile app that can help individuals find their way to a healthier future after a heart attack.
My Cardiac Coach helps individuals understand and manage their condition. A person can add prescriptions and track medication protocols to minimize missed or wrong doses. The app tracks an individual’s cholesterol, weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose. It has thirteen interactive learning modules on topics such as getting active, eating better, losing weight, dealing with stress and stopping smoking. It is available for Apple or Android devices.
