A Center of Excellence is a team of skilled knowledge workers whose mission is to provide organizations with best practices around a particular area of interest.
The Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health in Nursing Facilities (COE-NF) provides free training, technical assistance and resources to the staff at Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing facilities that care for residents with various behavioral health conditions. Resources and training is unique and adapted to meet the needs of each facility requesting assistance.
The COE-NF offers a series of training sessions in June on suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, mental heath first aid and opioid use disorder. Access the June events flyer to learn more. Additional topics covered include co-occurring disorders, substance abuse disorders, behavioral health equity and de-escalation techniques.
This service is free and available for nursing homes in the Dakotas. If your home would find value in specialized mental illness and substance use trainings; access to regional behavioral specialists and mental health and substance abuse subject matter experts, contact the COE-NF to see how they can assist. Their team offers one-on-one consulting with a behavioral health specialist and training and resources that meet the needs and priorities of each facility.
Contact the Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health in Nursing Facilities. You can request assistance by completing an online form or by calling the National Call Center at (844) 314-1433. Please note; the call center is a ‘non-emergency’ call line.
