As COVID-19 hits its three-year mark, we have seen nursing homes take some of the biggest hits of the virus with their patients and their staff. Nursing homes homes are now able to enroll in CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program to obtain single-dose vials of a COVID-19 vaccine and provide the shots directly to residents and staff.
The push intends to expand the number of healthcare providers who can administer these vaccines in nursing homes as part of the Biden Administration’s Winter Preparedness Plan to prevent the number of COVID-19 cases this winter season.
Eligibility Rules:
- Nursing homes must partner with a pharmacy enrolled as a COVID-19 vaccine provider
- Nursing facility cannot already be a regular, fully enrolled COVID-19 vaccine provider
- Eligible facilities can submit sub-provider agreements, which will be valid through March 15, 2023, unless that timeframe is extended by the CDC. Only one drug, the Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, is available through the program
The CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program does have eligibility rules and reporting requirements. Access immunization programs in North Dakota and South Dakota.
