Great Plains QIN is pleased to introduce one of our newest team members – Kelsey Olson, BA. Kelsey will serve as part of our communications team as a Communication Specialist.
I attended the University of South Dakota as well as the University of North Dakota. While a student in North Dakota, I had the benefit of serving as a teacher’s assistant for a professor who introduced me to the world of communication. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in communications and minored in leadership. I previously worked for Habitat for Humanity, which is where I discovered a love for helping my community. I most recently worked as a marketing coordinator for a real estate agent.
I was looking for a change – an opportunity to help people; which led me to Great Plains Quality Innovation Network. I am so excited to be helping people and their families identify what they need.
I will be working as the Great Plains QIN Communications Specialist! I will be assisting in all ‘things’ communication – internally and externally. This includes creating resources, hosting educational events and connecting with the healthcare community via new posts, stories. blog posts, social media and much more.
My mom currently suffers from diabetes. Throughout her entire life, she has had a hard time finding the resources and assistance she has needed. If I can help one person or family find the help they are looking for through this work, that would warm my heart the most.
The best part of ending the workday for me is knowing I am helping people. I am also looking forward to working with such an amazing group of people who are committed to ensuring quality of care for our community.
I am from Wayzata, Minnesota! After college, I moved home to Minnesota to be near my family. I live with my boyfriend, Brandon. We currently have two fur babies (a dog named Cash and Murphy, our cat). In my spare time, I love to watch TV and movies. I also enjoy hiking, traveling and spending time with my family and friends. I am also currently learning to snowboard, which is fun and requires a lot of practice. Finally, I am a huge University of North Dakota hockey fan, GO FIGHTING HAWKS!
