The Community Health Center of the Black Hills recognized a need for mental health care for youth in their service area. The pandemic magnified the concerns, and the team committed to a six-month training from the National Council of Mental Well Being.
Health care staff will share the steps for implementing a youth mental wellbeing program and describe lessons learned and best practices.

Families and communities commonly recognize major events or transitions based on their cultural background. These pivotal traditions and ceremonies are part of the cultural legacy passed down for generations and may provide an opportunity for a deeper level of self-reflection and healing.
Tribal health staff will provide an overview of South Dakota Urban Indian Health’s holistic care approach which promotes cultural awareness and incorporates valued elements and traditions.

Best Practice Brief → Spectra Support on a Case-by-Case Basis

Spectra Health has fully embraced its integrated model by including social services within the health care team and expectation of care within the clinic. By offering social services support to all community members, Spectra Health was able to increase access to care and reduce health disparities caused by social determinants of health.
Kayla Hochstetler, LMSW, social services manager for Spectra Health in Grand Forks, ND, will review the impact of the case management model for the community and share best practices and ongoing improvement efforts.
