Public health is defined as the science of protecting the safety and improving the health of communities through education, policy making and research for disease and injury prevention.
As we end this week in April, with much of the news focusing on COVID-19, we want to thank the public health workers while in this most important work of reducing the spread of COVID-19.
Public health professionals across the country are working hard and dedicated to keeping the public safe and healthy, in-the-midst of the most challenging public health crisis of our lifetimes. The work promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
To all the public health providers that are promoting and protecting the health of people and the communities where they live, work and play we thank you. To the public health workers that work day in and day out to protect and improve the health of others, we owe you. Your work affects the lives of people in countless ways and we salute you.
As we recognize National Public Health Week, thank you again to all the efforts of these dedicated professionals.
