Healthcare professionals play a key role in educating parents and patients about the importance of vaccination.
August is right around the corner. This August, National Immunization Awareness Month raises awareness and encourages everyone to make sure they are current on the necessary vaccinations for potentially harmful diseases. As healthcare professionals, we need to remind individuals that many diseases can be easily prevented by administering vaccines, and thus, protecting them from unseen viruses.
To help identify resources and to assist with messaging, be sure to access the 2019 National Immunization Awareness Toolkits. These toolkits will help you devise a plan to promote the importance of immunizations with your staff, patients and family members.

“As many of you know, the Great Plains Quality Innovation Network is part of the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) program, funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). At this time, CMS is working to identify priority areas for the QIO program going forward. Fortunately, we are able to continue to support promotion of immunizations throughout the transition period. We will continue to share information and offer education on recommendations and related topics. Together, we continue to play an important role in helping to educate patients about immunization recommendations and we look forward to continuing our partnership in this important work,” stated Tammy McNeil, RHIA, CPHIT, CPEHR, LSSGB; Regional Immunizations Lead.
We will continue to share and promote resources, stories and learning opportunities throughout the month of August.
