North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum declared today [June 23, 2020] Silver Linings Day in honor of long-term care facilities serving North Dakota’s most vulnerable population for more than 125 years.

Long-term care providers – in honor of your unwavering dedication and commitment to keeping residents safe and for continuing to compassionately care for those who rely on you during this unprecedented time, we salute you. The COVID-19 pandemic creates unique challenges to our healthcare system, unlike any other crisis in the modern era, and you are on the front lines helping us protect our most vulnerable population. Your efforts are applauded, recognized and appreciated – on this day and every day.

“Long-term care providers care for those most vulnerable to COVID-19. Their dedication to prevent spread of infection while also caring for the other physical, emotional, and social needs of their residents is rightfully being celebrated with Silver Linings Day. Seeing the responses of multiple communities to plan drive-by parades and other socially distanced events to celebrate long term care providers and residents demonstrates how important the facilities are to our communities,” stated Jayme Steig, PharmD, RPh; Quality Improvement Advisor with Great Plains QIN.
