The Institute for Healthcare Improvement has released a new report to guide advances towards reduced harm and safer care throughout the healthcare system. The report, developed by the National Steering Committee for Patient Safety, consists of 17 recommendations to advance patient safety across four domains:

  1. Culture, leadership and governance,
  2. Patient and family engagement,
  3. Workforce safety, and
  4. Learning system

Supplementing the Action Plan, a self-assessment tool offers assistance in helping organizations identify where to start. An implementation resource guide details tactics and supporting resources for implementation.
