March 11 – 17, 2018 is National Patient Safety Awareness Week, a highlight of the United for Patient Safety Campaign, an initiative of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

The Campaign is asking both healthcare professionals and consumers to take a pledge to stand united in striving to reduce harm in patient care. These pledges underscore the important action each can take in their commitment to safety across the care continuum. Take the pledge and also encourage members of your team to take a pledge for patient safety.

The Campaign team is also encouraging those on social media to demonstrate the fact that “We are all patients”  by posting photos of themselves in hospital gowns or in patient care settings and using the hashtags #WeAreAllPatients #UnitedforPatientSafety #PSAW18.

The Great Plains QIN team would like to thank and extend our appreciation to all the healthcare partners across the region for your dedication and commitment to quality improvement and improving patient care. Every day is Patient Safety Day and we thank you!

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) began working together as one organization in May 2017. The newly-formed entity is committed to using its combined knowledge and resources to focus and energize the patient safety agenda in order to build systems of safety across the continuum of care.
