Patient Safety Awareness Week is an annual recognition event intended to encourage awareness about patient safety and recognize the work already being done. This is an opportune time to remind patients they play an important role in ensuring that health care is safe.

Visit the new CDC Patient Safety website to learn about patient safety topics from hand hygiene to safe medication storage, all in one place. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement also offers a wealth of additional information and resources on the topic of patient safety.

We encourage healthcare professionals and consumers to take a pledge to help reduce harm in health care. These pledges are meant to underscore the fact that there are actions each of us can take to improve care across the care continuum. Also, be sure to share news of your safety work via social media. Use the hashtag #PSAW20

A sincere appreciation to all of our healthcare partners across the region for your dedication and commitment to quality improvement and improving patient care. Every day is Patient Safety Day and we thank you!
