The purpose of this program is to instruct National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) users on the process for obtaining meaningful reports from their data. As a result of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Apply sections of the analysis feature in the NHSN
  • Use monthly data monitoring to review impact of prevention activities or the need for additional prevention efforts
  • Check quality of data reporting and data accuracy submitted to CMS

Peg Gilbert, RN, MS, CIC, FAPIC
Gilbert has over 40 years of healthcare experience with the goal of providing high quality patient care while decreasing harm in a variety of settings. She has focused her work on assisting facilities in quality and regulatory processes and surveillance for healthcare-associated infections. Gilbert is certified in infection control and a designated Fellow – APIC. She is currently a Quality Improvement Advisor, Regional Lead for the Great Plains Quality Innovation Network and has her own consulting firm – Quality IC, LLC.
