Overview and Purpose:
The purpose of this WebEx is to help all healthcare providers learn to use teach-back support patients and families throughout the care continuum, especially during transitions between healthcare settings.
The WebEx will include health literacy principles of plain language and using teach-back to confirm understanding, with behavior change principles of coaching to new habits and adapting systems to promote consistent use of key practices. This session will be interactive and will feature a ‘live demonstration’ to share teach-back examples and methods for implementation.

Objectives:
Upon completion of the WebEx, participants will be able to:
- Define teach-back and role in improving patient safety and engagement
- Practice the use of plain language
- Review the ten key elements of teach-back
- Evaluate use of teach-back using Teach-back Observation Tool

The WebEx will provide practical and specific strategies to incorporate teach-back in the workflow at your clinic, measure effectiveness of teach-back implementation, and provide teach-back training to staff. A brief review of teach-back implementation and training will be followed by a question and answer session.
