Nebraska's Immunization Registry – Functionality, Benefits and Use

Nebraska State Immunization Information System (NESIIS)

Join this event to learn more about the NESIIS system, which will include a short demo of functionality and identify the statutory authority, data sharing and patient permissions. Michelle Hood will share the benefits of participation, ways to participate manually vs. electronic exchange and how to register and obtain training. Provider participation and immunization rate statistics, Meaningful Use attestation/reporting and goals of the system/data will be shared.

 

Target Audience:

Providers, nurses, practice managers, home health, nursing homes, hospitals and clinics are invited to join.

Michelle Hood has worked for the State of Nebraska for 21 years and is currently the Administrator for the Office of Health Statistics and Meaningful Use/Health Information Exchange Coordinator for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mrs. Hood attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for her B.A. in Mathematics, Secondary Education and Minor in Computer Science.  She joined the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services faculty in 1998 and has worked in numerous program including the Public Water Supply, Communicable Diseases, Bioterrorism, Immunizations, the Office of Epidemiology and now the Office of Health Statistics.  Mrs. Hood has been heavily involved in the collection and reporting of health information along with managing multiple database systems.  She serves as the Coordinator of electronic data exchange for multiple programs, including immunization, syndromic surveillance, electronic lab results, cancer and many more.
