Online meeting

Download presentation handout

Hospital antimicrobial stewardship programs can reduce inappropriate antimicrobial use, length of stay, Clostridium difficile infection, rates of resistant infections and cost. Electronic health records (EHRs) have the potential to enhance antimicrobial stewardship enabling clinicians to more efficiently review pharmacy, microbiology, and clinical data. Leaders in antibiotic stewardship (ABS) from the Great Plains QIN region will share their experience in integrating specific components of ABS into their EHR.

Target Audience:

Pharmacists, infection preventionists, nurses, clinicians, IT, EHR super users, quality improvement, risk management, and lab staff would benefit from attending this webinar.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify meaningful data for your facility’s antimicrobial stewardship program
  2. Establish efficient ways to extract antimicrobial stewardship data from your EHR
  3. Compare capabilities of different EHR systems in improving antimicrobial stewardship prescribing practices
  4. Describe how EHR integration can enhance the daily workflow of antimicrobial stewardship providers without third party support
  5. Discuss available active and passive decision support tools within EHR to guide diagnostic decision making
  6. Discuss tools available in the EHR to allow users to create antimicrobial use reports and antibiograms

Continuing Education:

An application has been submitted to the North Dakota Board of Nursing to obtain 1 contact hour for nurses for this event.
