Overview and Purpose:

The recently finalized Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) along with the Quality Reporting Program and Value-Based Purchasing Program will have significant impact on long-term care ratings for 2019 and beyond. Comprehending the major fundamentals of these key evaluation metrics will be imperative to safeguard success in the future.

This presentation is the first of two related to preparing for PDPM implementation. The second webinar is titled ICD-10 Diagnosis Coding for Patient-Driven Payment Model  and is scheduled for April 16, 2019.

Maureen McCarthy is the president of Celtic Consulting, LLC, and the chief executive officer and founder of Care Transitions, LLP, a post-discharge care management service provider. Recognized as an industry leader in clinical reimbursement for long-term care, she has been a registered nurse for over 30 years with experience as an MDS coordinator, director of nursing, rehab director and a Medicare biller.

Adding to her numerous recognition and leadership roles, McCarthy was recently presented the ACHCA 2018 Education Award and has been selected to join the American Health Care Association (AHCA) PDPM Academy Training Team, which provides education to the nation’s state affiliates regarding the new PDPM system. McCarthy is certified in the resident assessment process, QAPI and Director of Nursing Services by nationally recognized organizations and holds Master Teacher status in all three certifications.

As a result of attending, participants will be able to:

  1. Discover best practice ideas for monitoring compliance and reporting in the CMS program
  2. Understand how spending, or the cost of care, will be monitored and how the new PDPM system will encourage cost savings
  3. Review the various CMS reporting structures
