Final US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) Recommendations for CRC screening released

The final USPSTF recommendations for CRC screening were released earlier this week.  You may also find of interest a related JAMA news release and a statement from the American Cancer Society on the new recommendations.  One of the primary differences from the 2008 recommendation is the addition of Computed Tomography (CT) colonography and multi-targeted stool DNA (FIT-DNA) to the list of screening strategies.

The National Colorectal Cancer Round Table (NCCRT) Evaluation and Measurement Subgroup co-chair Ann G. Zauber, PhD, presented a poster describing the 80% by 2018 progress (to date) at the 2016 Digestive Disease Week Conference in San Diego last month.  The poster illustrates the progress of the 80% by 2018 initiative by comparing the number needed to screen to reach 80% by 2018 in each state with the number of pledges received in each state. View the poster.

The NCCRT will be hosting a webinar Guidance on implementing FIT-based screening programs.  The purpose of the webinar is to review the rationale for FIT-based testing programs and discuss strategies for successful implementation of stool-based testing programs.  The webinar will be held on Wednesday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. CST.  You must be pre-registered to join the webinar.
