Effective June 8, 2019, there will be changes to the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care – Quality Improvement Organization program.

The Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program is the cornerstone of Medicare’s efforts to improve the quality of care and health outcomes for beneficiaries. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently awarded 5-year contracts to KEPRO and Livanta to serve as the BFCC-QIOs. Both are current BFCC-QIOs, but the service area contracts have changed to align with the CMS regional offices.

KEPRO will provide services to Regions 1, 4, 6, 8 and 10, which includes Great Plains QIN states – North Dakota and South Dakota.

Livanta will provide services to Regions 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9, which includes Great Plains QIN states – Kansas and Nebraska.

KEPRO and Livanta have been contacting their provider members to offer instructions for changes that need to occur under the new contract. In addition to the MOA, providers must update the Important Message from Medicare about Your Rights and the Detailed Explanation of Non-Coverage, among others, and also update the BFCC-QIO contact information [in print and electronic materials].
